“Allowing the energy of unconditional acceptance and love to flow through your emotional body activates a process of profound healing and balance.” Tom Kenyon

When was the last time you truly experienced play and joy just for the sake of it?

All of us can remember times as children where we felt free to be and express all of whom we are, without limits. We can all recall moments of play and joy that filled our lives with such freedom and expansion that we would often lose all track of time and simply become immersed in the essence of our being in that moment.

Your soul and spirit knows no bounds. It is eternal and infinite. It longs to experience moments of expansive greatness and to return to the state of incredible joy and bliss that is at its heart. The doorway to this experience is the permission that we give to our inner-child to play, to create and to be enthralled in each moment.

Enchantment is the cornerstone of all creative activity and genius, for it is here that we will find ourselves allowing imagination and our pure unlimited nature to come forth.

It is here that our soul may be replenished and filled with the sweet nectar of love that so want us to express our divine gifts and be free to live fully in each moment. To do so means having to allow our adult selves to take a back seat for a while, and trusting that the inner-self that wants to experience complete expression and expansion must be allowed to drive the bus even if its for short periods of time.

And it is here I am reminded of the wisdom of the ancient Kahuna who embraced the concept of the ‘Aloha spirit’  in order to revitalise body, mind and soul. In Huna, Aloha represents the coordination of mind and heart within each person. It represents the ‘presence of breath’ or the ‘breath of life’, the knowing and understanding that as long as we are breathing there is more to our lives, and that it is the breath that gives us life.

This practice of Aloha was also grounded in the following 7 principles:

1.      IKE   The world is what you think it is. Therefore … “I am aware”.

2.      KALA  There are no limits; we are all one. Therefore … “I am free”.

3.      MAKIA  Energy flows where attention goes. Therefore … “I am focused”.

4.      MANAWA   Now is the moment of power. Therefore … “I am here now”.

5.      ALOHA  To love is to be happy. Therefore … “I am happy”.

6.      MANA  All power comes from within. Therefore “I am confident”.

7.      PONO  Effectiveness is the measure of truth. Therefore … “I am positive”.

Revitalising your spirit is not something that we can place on the back-burner of our lives. It is a mindful and dedicated practice to embracing our soul’s freedom and full potential that must come forth and be at the forefront of our creative and personal practice.

The Practice

Today you are going to be encouraged to allow your inner-child to take a driver’s seat in your life, if even for just a few minutes. While the thought of giving up control to our playful and more creative selves may be hard for our adult minds to accept, it is this very release and surrender that has the capacity to empower our souls and spirit to new heights, and to new ways of being in the world.

So, take a moment to go within and allow your inner-child, the creative, playful and unbounded self within to choose one of these four ‘inner-postures’, and begin to embrace it in your life today.

  1. Freedom: What can you do or embrace today that would allow you to experience and feel greater levels of freedom in your life?

  2. Play: How could you include some form of play in your life that would allow you to step out of the ‘adult you’ and let the true child within shine?

  3. Creativity: Your soul loves to expand and create. What creative endeavour or expression could you pursue today that would bring your heart and soul alive?

  4. Surrender: What can you release and let go from your life today that would create more room for your natural soul and spirit to shine?

The Affirmation

Today I give myself absolute permission to shine bright and be one with my creative and playful spirit.

The Question

How can I allow greater play, joy and happiness into my life today?

The Thought

If I am the master of my own destiny, then I have absolute control over the amount of happiness, joy and fulfillment that I am willing to accept and allow in each moment.
