Day 10 – Remembering Who You Are

Day 10 - Remembering Who You Are

“We can’t ask people to give to us something that we do not believe we’re worthy of receiving. And you will know you are worthy of receiving it when you can trust yourself above everyone else.” Brene Brown

How we choose to see ourselves ultimately determines the quality and value of the life that we live.

Our personal sense of self-worth and self-esteem are the greatest determinants of success. They both consciously and unconsciously set the thermostat for the level of abundance and fulfillment that we are willing to accept and attract.

But where do you get your self-esteem from? Is it being driven by other people’s perceptions of you, other people’s opinions or judgements, or is it being defined by your own sense of value and love of self?

As children we were all dependant on the feedback, opinions and judgements of others. In many ways we relied on these perceptions to shape who we were as people. However, as adults we need to stop and review these beliefs and perceptions and ask ‘Is that really who I am?’.

We are all being encouraged at this time to take back our sovereignty and power. We are being called to look beyond the opinions of others and remember who we really are – powerful, strong, courageous, resilient, compassionate, loving, eternal and infinite spirited beings who have the capacity to change and shape our lives in each moment.

When we choose to see ourselves through the limited lens of the human perspective, then we may see failures, setbacks, flaws and imperfections. Yet through the eyes of the divine, failures become learning points for future growth, setbacks become tests of persistence and patience that shape our character and make us stronger, flaws are seen as opportunities to stand out and be unique rather than trying to blend in, while imperfections provide the perfect platform for us to grow, learn, evolve and have compassion for ourselves.

In each moment we are being called to either see our lives through the eyes of the divine, or to surrender our self-value and worth to the opinions of others. Remembering who you ‘really’ are and reminding yourself of your value and worth on a daily basis is fundamental to living, creating and manifesting a rich life.

The Practice

Today we embrace the gift of mirror work in our contemplation and mindful approach to self-love and self-appreciation.

Take a moment to sit in front of a mirror and for at least 5 minutes look deeply into your own eyes and simply send love, compassion and acknowledgement to the you that is looking back. You may even want to say out loud ‘I love you, I value you and I appreciate you’.

If this part of the practice is hard for you to do, then you may wish to reflect on what belief, attitude or fear is keeping you separate from this truth.

Following the first 5 minutes of this mirror practice, I then want you to change perspective and see yourself in that mirror the way that God, the divine, a great mentor, coach or loving family member would see you.

Write down the words that they would use to describe who you really are – the you beyond the physical, the material and the personality.

Then take a moment to contemplate these words and descriptors and pick one to be your mantra for the day by placing it after the words ‘I am’ e.g. I am the light of the world. I am a divine child of God. I am a beacon of hope and infinite possibility for others.

The Affirmation

I was created in the eyes of the divine, therefore I am whole, perfect and complete as I am.

The Question

How would the divine choose to see me now?

The Thought

If no one is any better than me, and no one is any worse than me, then that means I am already more than enough. As I value my own talents and gifts and use them in service, my value grows, and I become one with the divine source of greatness that is already within me.
